New MTB ride leaders

Dan, Dave and Pete spent from Friday 9th to Sunday 11th April taking part in a CTC MTB Trail Leader course, based at Sawdon Village Hall. We’re now qualified trail leaders  - which I think gives us five qualified off-road leaders in total. The three of us on the CTC course have been trained to plan and lead diverse groups of people on largely natural trails, but also road sections. While we’ve got a grounding in basic skill delivery we’re not skills coaches but ride leaders, and you’ll probably hear us muttering about pre-riding, base contact, grid references, designated stopping points, and maybe even Red Arrow riding.

I’ve got quite a few pics, some of which I’ll put in the gallery shortly. Here’s one of us in a survival shelter - you can see Dave’s arm, Pete, and CTC’s North Yorkshire Cycle Champion Martyn Bolt.

   Am very impressed, be nice to have rides led by someone who knows what they are doing!
