Well what a difference a fortnight makes! As Mark predicted it stayed fair with light winds and the attendance rose to a wonderful 27 riders. The number of riders was helped by working in conjunction with Bridlington Cycle Club to hold a joint event. A number of new riders took to the tarmac for their first ever time trial - well done to Simon Hough, Peter MacAulay and Guillem - a Spanish exchange student. The event started bang on 7 o’clock in order to get through the large field and well done to Jackie for staying calm when the back-up stopwatch failed to start!! We also had James Gullen who drove across fromLeeds with dad Ray. As expected with James’ form at the moment he completed the hill climb in 7.26 and the whole course in 22.39. It was good to see a mixture of riders representing clubs across the region from Malton Wheelers to Hull Thursday, Mark Mckeown even cycled 35 miles each way to make the event. Hope he got back before darkness fell as he didn’t have any lights! Thanks to the wonderful support even for making the event the success it was. Jim Buddo earned his ‘pink pinafore’ award for services in the kitchen, Jackie, Jeff and Chris on timekeeping with help from a BCC representative and Mike on minding the Wold Newton corner. We look forward to event 3 on Thursday 12th August. This will be another joint event so more baking is in the pipeline!
