Family MTB ride, 7th Aug

On Saturday 7th August, Richardsons Cycle Club is running another guided mountain bike ride for beginners and family cyclists, starting and finishing at Sawdon Village Hall. You don’t need to be a club cyclist or regular off-road rider to attend.

The easy-paced ride will last about two hours, including stops, and will take place on lanes, forest tracks, and singletrack trails in and around Wykeham Forest. It’s suitable for confident children on their own bikes as well as parents and children with tag-along cycles, but is too narrow in places for two-wheeled cycle trailers.

Participants will need a bicycle in reasonable working condition – ideally a mountain bike – plus a helmet, drink and a packed lunch or snacks.

Your guides will be CTC-qualified trail leaders with good cycle maintenance skills, and there will be a qualified first aider present.

The ride costs £2.50 per person, payable on the day, which includes tea and biscuits at Sawdon Village Hall afterwards. It starts at 10.30am. When you get to Sawdon Village Hall, sign on with Dave or Dan – before we set off, we need a list of everyone on the ride for safety reasons.

This ride is the fifth family cycling event by Richardsons CC this year. The most recent was the annual family fun day and barbecue, which also took place at Sawdon Village Hall. Around 80 cyclists turned up to enjoy one of three guided rides for different abilities, as well as food and games afterwards.
