Lewis will leave Hull Thursday at the end of this season then will join me at Richardsons and second club will be Paragon so he can do TTs there.
What are the best routes for him around this area, I dont want to push him to hard and put him off.
He did want to go mountain biking but that has changed due to winning his medal.
I think it would be good for the club if we had a young lad in the club taking part in TTs.

One of my boys sometimes rides 'around Hackness'. Down Lady Edith's Drive, past Raincliffe Woods, over to Hackness, up the hill to Silpho, back down Hay Brow to Scalby, past the Rosette pub, back along Scalby road. Or you can the other way round. Whichever way you go there's a tough climb and a fast descent. It's about 10 miles all told (or it is to and from our house), and it's mostly on country lanes. Sometimes he rides to Ravenscar or Hayburn Wyke and back on his mountain bike, along the old railway track. It's uphill to Ravenscar, and it's obviously traffic free and you can't get lost either. My lad, Matthew, takes his mobile phone with him, so if he has any problems I can go get him. (It's only happened once - he punctured near Ravenscar.)
As for Lewis wanting to do time trialling instead of road riding: why not both?

Mike
I might be there on tuesday myself. Lewis would be welcome to come along on Weds evenings road ride. We meet just outside the Rosette pub 6.30pm. Its only down the road from your house.
I am leading the route on weds so there will be at least one familiar face.

Hi Mike
A little bit of nervousness is a good thing should make him more fired up to race. Make sure you show him the course route it is not always marshalled at club events. If you get there early for 6.30pm I will drive you both around to see the course.
As his first ten its just a benchmark to see his time and any future events he can build upon this.
It has already been said but dont go off too fast…..time trailling is about maintaining a constant sustainable effort.
Also he should keep focused on one thing to keep his pace constant such as pedal strokes I use heartrate. Eat a light snack no earlier than 3 hours before the start of the event.
See you there. Also remember if Lewis joins before August 2009 any club fees come off his first club clothing order. Hope he can make other Weds or Sunday runs.
