Ladies' town bike for sale, £50 ono

It's an old Coventry Eagle that I bought secondhad years ago for my mum. She has a better bike now. It has a lightweight steel frame, a 3-speed Sturmey Archer hub gear (with a big rear sprocket to make the gears easier), and sidepull brakes. The stumpneck stem means that it has a 'sit up and beg' riding position that's comfortable (with the fat saddle) for riding a few miles around town. It would suit someone roughly 5ft 4in to 5ft 9in tall.

While it's been resprayed, there is a bit of rust here and there - but nothing serious. There's a bit of rust on the rear carrier too, and that's only suitable for relatively light loads (e.g. nothing more than you'd comfortably carry in a carrier bag). The wheels are 27-inches in diameter. That's slightly (8mm) bigger than 700C. It doesn't make any difference when you replace innertubes, which will easily stretch to fit the bigger diameter, but does mean that there's less choice of tyres if you ever want to upgrade them.

Basically, this is a bike for just pottering around. It's a lot lighter than most budget new bikes (well under 30lb, though I can check this if you're interested) and the three-speed hub gear is fine unless you'll be riding up and down big hills a lot.

Happy to let anyone interested have a test ride. Send me a private message or post on here.
