I went out for about 75-90 minutes today on the road as I've got a test bike (Van Nicholas Mistral) that I've got to start putting some miles on. It was still pretty chilly, with drizzle and then was cold mist - not exactly freezing fog - through Hackness.
Not looking forward to more snow.

got out on the road bike tonight for the first time in a few weeks. i thought the roads would be clear of snow by now,
how wrong i was.
the final 2 mikes back to pickering were interesting ,slush , snow and ice all coverd the road .
it all got to much in the end and i ended up face down in a heap of snow.
it was great to get out though

I did 4 hours on the road on wed, rained all the time, had to turn back on one road as it was inches deep in ice, the wind was so strong i had to pedal downhill just to keep moving, it was freezing cold, my hands and feet ached with the pain, the rain got everywhere, but oh god it was just wonderful to get out and do a decent ride!

I've had man flu all weekend and most of this week - bed ridden and not a pretty site. Still, I thought I was feeling ok wednesday so ventured out for a couple of hours on the road, on my new debbie supplied road bike.
Though the weather was ok, just a chill wind and some winter sun - the back roads around my part were death traps. Still, isnt it skill building trying to ride smoothly and gracefully and develop your pedal stroke without sliding off..? I didnt come off (miracle) but it was so good to be out. I have however, not got rid of the man flu and it still persists - so I am just ignoring it now and looking to drive into the ground with some weekend riding, ha!

We've been waiting for the temperature to raise a bit before venturing out…
according to MetCheck it looks like we'll have to wait another day or two. Not totally sure I believe this forecast, but best to take an extra thick woolly hat if anyone's riding tomorrow afternoon :)

Might spend the day in a the garage cleaning the cobwebs off the bikes instead.

Me, Andy Browne, Carl, Andy's cousin Stu, and Alex the chef went out for a road ride down to Brid and back today. There was near-freezing fog outside of Scarborough, which made it feel colder than it was. Especially when I got a puncture (and the replacement tube turned out to have a faulty valve, meaning two changes). Everyone got a bit chilly and my fingers went numb. Don't know if it felt like minus 229 degrees centigrade but it felt pretty cold, for sure, and my fingertips are still tingly even now.
It was good to get out, though, and the bigger roads were all rideable. Only a couple of moronic drivers today. We waved at them, though we might not have used all four fingers.

Tom and i rode today too, nearly went Brid way but decided to try the railway line from scalby. It was hard going but fine until we started getting sections of solid ice under a pool of water. I found myself in the middle of a section and rather than just hang on in there decided, (i knew it was stupid!) to try and get to the side. As soon as i turned my bars i was off and of course when i put my foot down it simply slid away from me. the good news is i have discovered i can still do the splits! and as the two very nice ladies who picked me up will confirm swear whilst doing them! We decided to leave the railway line at Cloughton and head up to Ravenscar on the road, this was clear. We then headed onto the Whitby road, where is were we found not only the fog but lots of traffic too. Only one twit of a driver, but then that's all you need. We turned into Harwood dale via the road as the tracks were, well lets say very very deep in snow! The road was pretty good just the odd section still covered in snow. The views were quite simply to die for. Am glad to say we decided just to look at them tho! Anyone else ridden? Broxa looked unridable, anyone managed a decent off road ride where you don't spend half the time slipping on the ice and the rest pushing the bike thru the snow!
