It was raining  heavily when i arrived at the car park in Ayton. Very heavily. Yet there was a fair sized group ready to ride. Little Hopper and Nigel the skills led the anti social off on yet another tour of north yorkshire. It involved lots of hills, mainly up them and if they did ride a downhill they added an interesting twist, mud, tricky slippy rocks or the worst one, a mile of nettles down a slippy rocky trail. Russ the pliers, your club needs you! Rather amusing to watch them all in the pub scratching away! Formally Richard of Langdale, Hackness Mike, Giles, the great weather tempting  him back out, Wills, all the way from the outer edge of Scotland made up the rest of the group, and as the landlord said, mad the lot of them!

The anti socials waited for us as we left, i think they thought we would head straight for the pub! As if! We decided to follow them and we did for about 3 mins then they left us! I took my group, Matt, who i gave a great nick name to prob last time he was out but iv forgotten it, must look it up, Buttons( Adam),, Tom the new guy, and Twiggy( Lucy). We did some old Anna and Julian trails, then just headed off up a track. We ended up crossing a field with a warning, Bull in field. It was no where to be seen but Tom, who grew up on a farm, just knew it was there and sure enough, as we crossed the field he spotted it and a rather large herd of cows, most sporting horns! They were all moving fast and in our direction! Iv never been so happy to open a gate! We all made it through and headed for a bril few miles of up and down dale, Matt was the only one to clean the climb, tho Tom and i tried very hard! We got lost, i thought i had found a new road, until Matt and Buttons explained i was on a track that led to the Anvil which i ride almost weekly! Doh!!!!! A quick blast through Jed's trail, a bit of road, more single track and then another field and another bull. This time we retreated, it was big. It was looking mean, and it even sounded mean!!! The pub called, we re-rode one of Anna and Julian's tracks and went through a very deep brook! twice in fact! great fun and we were warmly welcomed in the pub! No chips yet tho!Wink
