Hi all,

Just a quick note about my weekend. I took my cannondale prophet for a ride on the sustrans c2c route from whitehaven to sunderland last weekend (well, sat, sun & mon). It was a great route, for those that have never done it. Very quiet country lanes, disused railway lines, singletrack moorland etc.. Didnt race against the clock as (a) Ive never ridden this bike for more than 5 hours before and (b) it was supposed to be fun! So the itinery was a bit like this:

Day 1: Leave whitehaven at 11.30am. Headwind all the way, but sunny, arrived at penrith, 53 miles, about 17:45. Feeling good!

Day 2: Leave penrith at 11.15am. Destination rookhope Co Durham, 40 miles away. Rain, big hills, more rain, small hills, but steeper. Feeling less good now.

Day 3: Leave rookhope for sunderland at 10:15. 42 miles. Its snowing! Only 1 big hill, then lovely moorland singletrack and an easy ride to the finish. Arrived at 2pm, feeling great!

I did this ride on my own but met lots of other folk doing the same thing, crossing paths regularly. Its very well signposted too. If anybody is thinking of having a go at it and have any questions then feel free to ask me, I'll try to answer as best I can.

Im hoping to do it again in may 2011, so, anybody interested in a ride then??

Regards,

phil

ps. hoping to put some pics up if I can work out how to!

Hi Phil  well done to ride this on your own and I think 2011 would be great for a club ride.  Get the dates sorted put it to the club sure it will be popular.   It is a great ride and achievable for most riders.
