Me and Rich went to dalby on Saturday and tried to beat our best times.

My time to beat was 2hrs 11 minutes. Completed it this time in 2hrs 5 minutes.

just thought we could all put our times in here and try and better them !

Good work, fellers. I'll add you to the leader board here:

http://richardsonscc.co.uk/200…..ute-times/

I think (no disrespect! Wink) that the red route has got slightly faster since they first opened it, because it's been smoothed out in places. I say this not because of your times but mine. First time I tried it I got around (albeit on singlespeed) in 2:40 and was on my knees. Last time me and Andy Browne did it, we only timed it accidentally (using his heart rate monitor, which he'd switched on at the start) and we found we'd done it in 2:25 pretty easily, despite numerous stops to chat, give directions etc.

I reckon that 2:15 is a good target for any fairly fit rider now, and that anything under 2 hours is a kind of 'gold standard'.

What bikes did you ride, by the way?

I promise to try when fully recovered! Did it about two years ago with Martin, took me 2 hours 35 mins so hopefully i will be faster this time. Also think we should do a night time test aswell. If weather stays good aim for that this Thursday?

A while since I have timed myself around the route but I will endeavour to try this week for a new time and I will see if I can beat my time in 2008.

Oh I am so upset you would level such a comment at me.

As if I would hold back your time deliberately…… As you know it was you who let us down by not paying the £20 in time for us to fabricate your red route times!

But Seriously:

I have no idea how Dan fixed the table on the site to get your time in.. he's the man!

Two words, Tom. Rigid. Singlespeed. Wink

I haven't actually fixed the table. All I'm doing is writing new words in the existing boxes. That's fine so long as we never have more than four people on the leaderboard. After that, it all goes a bit pear shaped.  I can't seem to add extra rows…

Well I went for it this morning…….after 1.30mins I was (from looking at the Pickering three route profile on Garmin) 10 mins up but then disaster my rear derailleur on  shift jammed and the cage bent and went into the wheel.  So a limp home and look a like an expensive replacement of my SRAM X-0 Frown

I had seen the chain reaction prices for XO so ordered one from there.  Thanks anyway.  The 2006 fat possum weighs just over 30lb.

Its a very good bike for the prices you can pick them for.

Hi there, this is my first post on this site.

Tried to add my red route time on but can't find the board…

1.57.12 in June this year. In the dry with no stops (or hold ups)

I think I can do a 1.50! I'll let you know if I do.

Cheers

Okay with the recent changes to the Red route with the new descent to medusas Drop I have ridden the route with a time of 2.06.47 Not a fantastic time but not bad for a busy summer afternoon.

http://connect.garmin.com/acti…..y/32810670

So thats the only submission for 2010 - and with the new route…….so who will ride it next!

I reckon it would be good to do the route one evening with a few who have a similar time and see who can get round the quickest; having the others to chase or behind would encourage all to ride faster. It's best to start about 6.30ish to avoid groups and slower riders. Any takers?

did the red route yesterday (10th aug) , managed a time of 2hrs 9 mins.

i rode my giant Xtc c1 hard tail .

the route seems to have got alot rougher over recent months especially the section after bickley car park

and what was the fast bermed section is now hard work on a hard tailFrown

i will have another go this weekend only this time i will take the full suss and see if more comfort = more speed.Smile

I'm going to try to come along on Thursday on my old hardtail.

Deb - could you explain where abouts in Dalby the green gate is? You did tell me once before but I forgot!

Hi the Green Gate otherwise know as the fire tower to older riders is the junction where the toll booth is on the main forest drive, just at the point where the road turns right to Dixons hollow area. We park at these cross roads because they close the gates around 8pm! There isn't actually a green gate or fire tower ( dismantled long ago)! Quickest way in is from Langdale End entrance or if coming from Pickering way turn up on road in Ebberston, it is not in brill condition tho.

Just a quick question, any reason why there is a difference of over a mile between the two Garmin recorded times? I see one is from May and one June, did the route change between the two times? Or does one of you go back and do the bomb holes twice!!

Mike.
