Guess what I did today…. Rode up to Dalby, did the red route, rode back. 42 miles on the cross bike! Knackered! Riding the red route is very difficult on a cross bike. I think I was a bit optomistic in trying to get under 2hrs. Did it in 2hrs 15mins and am planning on doing it a couple more times before the 3 peaks. I had that achy back, buzzing hands, fategued forearm feeling afterwards….then I had to ride home with a squeeky chain. Got a fly lodged in my ear. Punctured with about 3miles to go in the forest. The hardest parts were the rocky drop offs where mtb'rs simply ride over and carry on. I had to pick my way through or even get off and and walk! Most of it is rideable though, but riding the rocks doesn't half hurt after while.

Come on Toms - Do it on your cross bike…..Its a whole different kettle of fish.
