All reports so far are it's still a no go area. The ice is still bad in many places and lots of deep snow, however these are mere irritants compared with the real problem, fallen trees, ( and take it from me they are really boring!). So best thing to do is try closer to Scar, Broxa, Raincliffe, and Wykham, mix it up with some urban, semi urban and roll on summer!

I was up at Dalby walking with a friend with a baby in a pushchair. I can confirm that the fallen trees are a hassle. We made it less than 100m up a fire road and crossed 3 downed trees. After which we realised the whole trail was littered in them further up too and gave up.

Same experience for me on Sunday. No snow left but fallen trees on all bike routes and fire roads as well (though small parts of the red route are clear).

alking to one of the Rangers, from a 'elf' and safety aspect thats the main concern as to why trails and forest drive past the visitor centre remain officially closed (they dont want tress falling on people and cars). It could be awhile until its open proper Frown

good to know snow gone. Shame about the trees, fancy them being a problem in a forest! Reminds me of the story of the wrong sort of leaves! Still what i really want to know is Jingleby open!
