Well, I did it!!! 5 hours 36 minutes of pain, sweat and more pain. An amazing experience, 85 degrees heat with nearly 40,000 runners starting together and the course taking us through all the different neighbourhoods of Chicago, and 1.5 million people cheering us on enthusiastically as Americans do best. The high points - running for Fred's Team, the city, the crowd, the music, the shouts of support, getting drenched by fire hoses, encouragement from Tom to keep me running when I wanted to walk. The low points - Gatorade (never touching that stuff again!), Gatorade, and Gatorade. It's Tuesday morning and it still hurts like hell. Disappointed with my time but hey I only did 3 weeks training over 6 weeks ago before my injury, and I still beat 10,000 people struggling more behind me, and also a bloke in an Eiffel Tower suit, and a guy who was wearing a blindfold! I can't text from my phone but I can receive them. I'll bore you all with more details when I get back. Thanks for all the support and encouragement. As for Fred's Team, between us we raised $305,000 for cancer research!

I can't believe you did mountain mayhem and then less than 4 months later did Chicago marathon.
