Hi Nick
Let me know if you clear your commitment. Wpuld be good to travel together I can come and meet you at Pickering in the morning. If you enter early you will get it cheaper I think entries close this weekend.
You don't need to ride in club kit but if you do then here is the stock as of beginning of Aug: http://richardsonscc.co.uk/201…..-clothing/ Pop into the shop at Scarborough to buy anything (closed for a week after tomorrow).
Cheers
Mark

I've entered this. My 16yo son Matt might be doing it too. He hasn't decided yet.

Mark,
Sorry, unable to get sorted out for the race Sunday - it was touch and go trying to make it but really wanted to give it a try.
I'll keep my eye out for any other club events that might come up, let me know if you are ever short for any XC, I ride all through winter.
Cheers,
Nick
(BTW - managed to at last join the Thursday ride at Dalby but no fast group! - still managed to have a decent ride though with a group of 3!)

Four RCC riders for tomorrow - Including - Matthew Graves his first Race for RCC and his first MTB race. I am sure he will enjoy it. I will be there from about 9.00am. I want to watch the youth race at 10am and get some video of Mike and Matt.
You should be able to spot where I am parked I will be flying the RCC banner.

Not a bad day for racing at Hamsterley today. Biting wind, but sunny, and you didn't really notice the cold when you were racing. Mike Thompson won his race and the series, as did Ruth Thompson. Results! Not sure where Matthew Graves came - top 5, I think, in his race. Good effort. Mark G had probably another top 10 finish. I was way down the rankings, but not last as far as I know.
The course had some long steep climbs. In fact, it was a long climb, a long descent, another long climb, and another long descent. Possibly the hardest ride I've ever done on a singlespeed. I had a sit down on a tree stump at one point because I was feeling faint.
There were some interesting bits in the course, though. It took in much of the new red descent there, which has loads of bermed corners, table tops etc. But it also cut through new bits of the forest, on tight 'game trails' with really deep mud and wet transverse roots. There was even a stream crossing. I enjoyed the first lap, struggled a bit on the second, and was going backwards by lap three.
It's a shame there weren't more RCC riders there. These Nutcracker races have been well run, and you don't need to be Liam Killeen to take part. You just turn up and try to beat your mates, or that guy in the red top on the Specialized Epic, or whatever. Anyhow, here's to next year's events.

Results are up Matt you came fifth in your category.
The results are confusing as they are all lumped together per race but look under the numbers to find your category ie 200's was juveniles or 500's for Vets etc….

If you click 'by category', you can see the results separated out. Click 'lap times' and that tells you, well, you can work that out. I lost 4 minutes on the second lap and a further 2 minutes on lap three (i.e. 6 mins slower on lap 3 vs lap 1). Having said that, I doubt riding singlespeed cost 10 minutes on that course. More like 5 or 6, from being unable to pace properly. That would have changed a few placings, but nothing to shout about. It's a big deal if you're shooting for a podium position, but back in the bottom end of the field riders often come in several minutes apart.
Mike's lap times are rocket fast!
