Coming soon to your RCC website: a 'that's gotta hurt' section. Go dig out your photos of your mountain biking injuries! (Because we all take photos of our injuries, surely? The first rule of Bike Club - unlike Fight Club - is that you can talk about it.)
I've got some before and after the op pictures of my collarbone that'll be up there, plus a shot of a big yellow bruise that I took a couple of days after the crash.

In too much pain after this to take photos of myself, 6 weeks out of the saddle over the winter 'cos of this crash.
Lesson:- Look where you're going at all times, even if it's sleeting it down at 20mph right in ya face and it's hurting.
(Not looking hurts a lot more)
It made turning left very difficult.

That's properly broken, Tommo. My mountain bike survived my crash fairly well, apart from the bar ends getting knackered when they hit the floor. Good old steel: it dies hard.
I survived less well.

I've got another one like that as well, I'll take a photo of it and put it on here when I get time.

The Picture gallery 'thats gotta hurt' is now up and running. All photos of cycling injuries from members can be put on this gallery. Mountain biking or road biking!
The current picture is Matt's contribution from their recent trip to Glentress!
Come on Dan where are your collarbone pictures? Those xray pics would look good too!

Just seen Dan's shoulder on the gallery, beats mine easily. Respect.
Especially like the meccano inserts, a nice touch, clearly due a role in Transformers III.

Have the doctors done anything to fix your displaced collarbone, Matt, or do they leave it to get better by itself? The physio I saw today said that displaced collarbones can be worse, long term, than broken ones. Then again, he was maybe trying to make me feel better as I lifted weights the size of tiddlywinks with my left arm…

Sorry for the delay in responding. We were on holiday, obviously leaving all heavy lifting to Mrs H at the moment.
Won't visit the fracture clinic until later this month, from what I've read and been told it's usual to just leave it alone and let the body work around this type of injury (”So the arm will just grow back will it?”). It's now a month after 'punching out through the canopy' at the top of Spooky Woods (something like this in my memory… http://www.singletrackworld.co…..nday-times). The shoulder seems to be getting stronger every day, but you can never tell what seemingly trivial movement can still cause 24hours of aching. Hoping to get back on the bike in a couple of weeks for some on-the-flat-work - but possibly need to get the bike spruced back up first. Desperately missing the biking… .or maybe just the excuse for Audrey's cakes on Sundays at Jingleby . Will call into the shop to get a fresh ejector seat and parachute first.
