Well what a night! jackie had organized another wonderful evening. On arrival we all received a welcome drink, so lots were very happy to get the first round in! No names mentioned! It made for a really relaxed start to the evening. Dinner was served in the Everley's spacious dinning room. Jackie and i had spent many an hour with a bottle of wine or two planning the seating, it's thirsty work, but someone's got to do it! Hazel had organized her Quizz which was a great ice breaker, i really will have to sit with some more intelligent people next year as we came last! Mark's table won! tho it was a tie break with Jackie's, i have to say they didn't look more intelligent than our table! Another ice breaker was the 'build a bike from playdough', this was won by our new press officer Kathy's table, our table was clearly felt to be last even tho i handed a sealed envelope of cash to the judge, the man with the disco 'Chris'. In my table's defense we were sat near the fire so our effort kept melting!Tho next year i will so choose my dining companions with much more care! Tim, Jeff, Dan, Tom, and Pete, you are dumped! Anne, pocket rocket, did an amazing seat and seat post and Sally's, (Dan's better half) bell was worthy of the Tate so they can stay! Dinner followed and as usual it was superb! Then the awards. The first award was 'The Adam Everingham Trophy”, this was for the most successful youth rider. Adam was a member of our club who tragically died last year. The trophy was paid for with donations from club members. It was won by Mike Thompson. Then the Richardson Trophy, for the most successful club rider, again won by Mike Thompson. Mike is a credit to the club, a really dedicated rider, and a pretty mean dancer too! The next award was the Grange Trophy for the most improved rider, this was won by Lizzie, a very popular choice! Finally came the Boyes Cup for services to the club. This was a tie, the honours shared by Jackie and Pickering 'Dave' Simpson! Tho Toby Boyes missed out on a share of the cup by only one vote! Dan then presented the cups for the time trials summer series, tho only Jeff Francis was there to collect. Next was what is fast becoming the most important part of the evening, the RAFFLE!. We all bring prizes, buy lots of tickets and EVERYONE wins lots and lots of prizes except for about 3 people, who sit forlornly looking at their tickets whilst everyone else grabs arms full of booty! I was collecting prizes for Callum as well as myself so spent a very happy 10 mins running back and forth. You had to run, as to say Hazel and Jackie called the numbers out rapidly is a major understatement. Disco Chris was moved to say he had never seen anything quite like it! Then the disco started. I had had firm agreement for EVERYONE PRESENT that they WOULD DO AT LEAST ONE DANCE, they didn't and i KNOW WHO YOU ARE! Still the floor was full pretty much all night and those that preferred to drink and chat were able to escape us dancers and sit in comfort in the bar area. Such a well chosen venue Jackie! At this point i must mention the club's very own John Travolta, Phillip, a star is born! Thanks to all who attended and helped make it such a wonderful night. Hope to see you all and more next year! Happy Cycling!
