Well two venues tonight. Low Dalby for a fast and a social ride and Rosette for a local social. I led the Rosette ride. Well i tried too, have a few weeks off and the natives get ideas above their station!
As we waited for Houghing Jax and matt the camera to arrive i explained the route and said we will pick up Siobahn on route. Nic young un said ok but can we do urban instead. I explained we only did that in really bad weather. He nodded thoughtfully, then said' urban would be good tho' We decided to let chance decide, if i could catch Siobahn before she set off urban it would be. And so we did urban, the route an old favourite put together by Too Tall Tom. When Matt arrived i was shocked to see he had grown a beard, in June apparently. Oh dear, i hadn't noticed!
A quick blast thru Newby Farm estate, down to the seafront, around the marine drive. A slight change to Tom's route, no castle steps and we climbed up behind the clock tower as there was so much sand on the pavement. Lizzie, back from 3 weeks hols, led the way and set a cracking pace. At the top Siobahn decided that she really didn't need to be wearing about 10 layers and as Nick young un is not yet 20 we decided he could carry them. He had started to moan about how it takes longer to recover from injuries 'at his age' you can imagine how sympathetic we all were.
Then it was up the mount, down a bridle way to eastfield. Proper off road, Elec-Rik decided he was with a mountain bike group after all! Nik young un led us swiftly thru eastfield . Siobahn got chatted up by a police man, her back light wasn't working! I led us thru crossgates by an interesting route! Matt the Beard sorry The Camera had a friendly chat with a gentleman who had had a sherry or two to celebrate his birthday. He was fascinated by us all Sadly he felt he was more suited to road riding and rather relieved we left him to carry on with his partying. Then onto Seamer and thru to Ayton. As we rode up to the mast at the top of irton moor the rain Ravenscar Chris had been warning us about finally started to arrive. No problem, we speeded up and managed to stay ahead of the rain, i wonder if the lads in Dalby were as lucky!
