Tonight's ride met at the Moorcock inn.  Total number of riders starting were 10. I decided with Nigel to split into two groups Nigel taking the faster group while I led the social group.

The split was 3 riders with Nigel and the social team who were Valerie, Siobhan, Lizzie, Chris and taxi Phil. Social group took the 5 mile hike up to the cross, riding down to
Low North and then following the river section back to the Moorcock, roughly 16 or so miles. Nigel's team decided to do it the other way round so hopefully we would pass them on route.

A reasonable pace was set up the 5 mile hike with the group keeping close together. As we were travelling across the moor we spotted a lone rider coming the other way
and blow me he was wearing a Richardson's club shirt. it was Sandwich Chris who had arrived late at the Moorcock and found we had gone but decided to ride out on his own nonetheless. He decided to join our little band and we rode on. Not much further down the single track from the cross we came across Nick and co but without Nigel. Nigel had problems with his bike and could not carry on riding and had returned home. After a quick chat we decided to ride on and go our separate ways. Sandwich Chris then decided to join Nicks team obviously finding the social ride pace to much.

As we entered the river section we experienced rain for the first time in weeks. It was surprising how quickly the ground became slippery but all coped very well. We arrived back at the Moorcock having experienced a variety of track conditions. Also thanks to Chris who rode as our rear gunner. Due to being rather damp we skipped the temptation of having a drink this time.

I have posted this for ride leader Pete Blood.
