Just want to say a thank you for my personal ambulance driver and also Debs for checking up on us in A&E after my embarrassingly early crash out tonight.

I'm back at home - a bit too late to text (I'm sure you're all resting after your slightly longer ride than mine - must have broken the club record for the shortest route to disaster!) so I thought I'd post here.

Got a couple of stitches in my lip and one leg is now twice the size of the other! I'm remembering things better now - apparently I kept repeating myself all the way back. The Doc said it wasn't too concerning as it's only the short period directly after the crash that I'm a bit fuzzy on now. Apparently it's if you start forgetting things that happened before the accident that they get more concerned.

Will check the bike for damage tomorrow and try to find an excuse not to blame my rusty riding skills (Debs was kind enough blame it on a front tyre blow out so I'll try to make that stick!)

Thanks again for looking after me. Wonder if I'll get a new nick-name from this!

Hi Dan, glad all ok! Pete was your taxi driver, where's Phil the Taxi when you need him eh?! i am working on a nick name, you have certainly worked hard to get one! I am thinking “the Hulk” the way your leg leg swelled to twice it's size make's that seem appropriate! As for my nursing skills calling it 'a graze', ah, sorry for that. Thanks to Ravenscar Chris and Sandwich Chris and langdale Richard for offers of lifts etc. The Chris twins did look a bit like a pair of drug dealers at one point tho as they discussed 'low salt' and how many packets they moved on a week all the while peering into the back of sandwich Chris' van. It was all about crisps apparently tho i didn't get offered any!!

Thanks evryone!

Still a little hazy. I remember the track was loose and rocky and the front wheel just disappeared from under me. I remember seeing the front was flat and vaguely recall telling Debs I was ok and was only going back to the car because I didn't want to hold everyone up while I sorted out the bike - or was that a dream? The next thing I remember was halfway back to scarborough holding a tissue to my face while a very kind gentleman was driving my car! I was quite surprised but thought it would be best just to go with it!

I did take a couple of pics, I'll get them uploaded when I'm back home (i'm inconveniencing my parents for a few days, hobbling around their house on a walking stick as if Im an elderly relative!)

Took my first look at the bike today - the front inner tube is split in three places next to a fresh chip on one side of the rim so I'm guessing I hit a sharp rock at an angle. The tyre looks OK though.

Hope to be back soon

He sells them at a pub in West Yorkshire Wink

Dan: It DOES get better/easier/safer…. it's those damned 'mountain' bits of MTBing that cause the trouble, both UP and DOWN can be problematic.

Hope you're back on the wheels soon, there's some great riding this time of year around here you wouldn't want to miss it.

Just a warning, first Dan The Hulk is down, not to be out done Too Tall Tom decided to try a 6 foot drop off whilst racing at 40 miles an hour down a tarmac hill, as you do, hitting the tarmac was not too bad, it was the next two riders who rode over Tom that did the damage, (solo place next week at Mayhem up for grabs!), so who is third in line for the next crash!?

Is Tom okay, Debbie? And how is his bike?

Where was the drop off? Was it near those forestry buildings on the usually-gated-off backroad into Low Dalby?
