Well it was another amazingly mild dry evening, within minutes of setting off people where shedding layers ! The fast group, compriised of Little Hopper, who lead, Hackness Mike, on hand incase directions needed! Matt and friend? Sorry can't remember your name! and fairly new rider, Mike, who is already beginning to think, should he have bought full suspension?! ( yes, plus hardtail 29er, single speed, road bike, then xc full sus, long travel full sus, etc etc!) Little Hopper took them up to Dalby via Pete and Jackie's downhill route, a great climb in the dry, sheer hell in the wet! They then did a mix of black, old and new red,. Best comment was Mike's “we did the wall of death?!, where?”, but all happy. They had a topic of conversation which i can only say was one of those situations of “what happens on the ride stays on the ride!” I can say no more!
The social group comprised of Myself, “Scout Richardson” the baked bean family, Chris 2, sandwich chris, Brendon, Adam and Toby,. I had a request of not an evening of plowing through mud and i think i managed that even if the bikes looked like they had been! We made our way up to dalby on a mix of dry and ok, muddy tracks but overall not too bad. I then nearly lost my nick name by being unsure of the track, but i was right after all. Think the baked bean family get the casting vote on that one! We did some “natural single track”, anyone lost a very big tractor? because we found a HUGH one last night! Then it was more natural downhill singletrack, Marcus ( small baked bean ) found out the hard way that you need extra space between your helmet and the trees when your light is pearched on the top, ouch! A bit of gentle height gain before some fun singletrack and down the road to the pub and chips! Those not sure about night riding, try it, it's great!
