Well it is that time of year again, the dark nights are with us, it will be April again before we can go out without lights. So if you want to keep up your fitness levels it is a case of switch the lights on and keep on riding. Last night's ride was a real taster of what winter riding will be like. The intermediate group did Anna and Julian's  famous cows, geese, horse, and bull ride, none of which were in evidence last night thank goodness. The horse always freaked us out, we would just hear it's hooves approaching us at speed as we tried desperately to get across it's field before it reached us, we never did. It always made straight for the most nervous rider and trotted along beside them breathing heavily. and occasionally nudging the poor rider's bottom with it's head, oh joy! It's final trick was always to beat us to the gate and stand in our way as we desperately tried to get out! The bull would just stand gazing at us, except for the time we got lost in his field and we ended up cycling right up to him, Jackie has especially fond memories of that night! Last night plain sailing though. We had 12 in our group, even the rain didn't seem to dampen spirits and all voted for the muddy singletrack route home. We crossed paths with Little Hopper and his fast group, doing a slightly easier ride than Tuesday's 5 hill epic. Mark and i are trying to sort some more spare lights so if anyone is wanting to try winter riding just let me know! It's fun, honest. I must also send our thanks to Matt, tho in Finland he was able to assist us in getting a set of lights working! Now that's what riding in a club is all about!

Yeah, good ride last night with the social group. Bit slithery, but once the rain set it we were muddy enough that it didn't matter. The pace was steady enough that no one was in danger of falling of the back.

There were a few places where I could have done with a bit more tread than the Kenda Karmas I've got on. Still, they did make the road ride out to the start at Sawdon easy.
