The Social Group consisting of Myself , Matt the Cam, Ravenscar Chris, Rick the spark, Garth, and new Simon led by our main man Chris Tedman. Well tonight's ride was a Tedman special.  Not far now honest ! I think I'll name this route the three day event as we seemed to spend a lot of time trying to jump logs and ditches some with water and some without. We started at the Forge pub and headed up towards Wykeham Forest via the campsite at the top of Yedmandale.  They must think oh it's them again.  Then through the woods doing the outer ring. This is where the jumps started.  The recently felled track was interesting. Tedman said 'oh it's rideable' smack  - fall one, back on the bike undeterred off he went again smack - fall two, Just follow me you'll be OK and yes, smack, fall three - we pushed the rest of that section but good for Chris for trying. If there are bruises I want pictures.  In the post ride analysis it was becasue he hadn't lowered his seat post (hydraulically that is ). Then I bagan to lose where we were.  Little tracks and vague memories of being there before but hey ho we could have been in outer Mongolia. Then down a steep hill into the valley below Sawdon where we did more three day eventing - ditches, rivers, and plenty of mud and then up a nasty little hill that popped out at Rowe house Farm (just need to look up where  that is). I nearly wiped out a small floack of Patridges that had settled down for the night all very traumatic but they and I survived.   Down the hill and across the fields, down a hill and just as I was going to overtake him the b turned left across more fields etc. Well we came out at Hutton Buscel  eventually for those of you who have been following this !!

It was Simon's first ride so well done to Simon and hope you can get that mud off those white shoes !

A good ride Chris and up to your usual exciting standards - where next ? Laugh

There were nine of us anti-socials. Nigel the skills led: Russ the pliers, Hackness Mike, Rich Waller, me (out for the first time in four weeks), Anton and Nadia (whom I've not met before), a young rider 'un I've met once I think whose name I didn't catch, and another rider I didn't know who does mean manuals.

We set of up into Wykeham, via the outside track, then explored some muddy and interesting singletrack. We set of up into Wykeham, via the outside track, then explored some muddy and interesting singletrack. Deja vu? Yes, us too. Wink I think Nigel wanted us all to clean the more technical sections so secretly made us session them!

Lots of deadfall in places, and although we collected a lot of sticks (Mike got most of a small tree at one point), no one had their mech trashed. Mud is getting thicker up there now, although it was mostly rideable. Weather was pretty good too.

Rich was on his new rigid 29er winter bike and was singing its praises. I was on 26in wheels (not my bike) and fell off a couple of times as a result. You get use to rolling through and over things. Still, those 26in wheel bikes are nippy and manoevrable, aren't they? It was like being on a BMX!

So lots of exploration of bits of Wykeham, a few chances to have another go at tricky bits (I hit that tree next to the deep puddle twice with my shoulder Confused), then a fast freewheel back to the Forge, where we found Chris Tedman harassing the barman. Laugh

Aw shame to miss it. Still not 100% I had my uses tho, i dog sat for Houghing Jax, who ran rather than rode due to light failure. I also baked! Am turning into a domestic goddess! Hopefully out again on Tuesday!

The young rider you have met would be Ali Chalmers, not ridden on a eve with Ali so am at a loss for a nick name, any suggestions?

Not sure who the manual king is tho!

Just wanted to say a quick thank you for looking after me so well. Lorraine thanks for the food and words of encouragement and the very nice chap who stayed behind me and kept me going. What a great bunch of people. I have no idea how I managed to get around the run (it may have been the constant “not far now honest” that I heard for most of the ride). Only problem is you may have to put up with me for a bit longer. So more waiting for the slow chap at the back.

Once again Thankyou all I will try to remember names. And cheers for sorting out lights Deb and the chap with the tape so I could fit them on my bars. Simon.

P.S trainers all white and ready to go again Laugh
