Decent ride out around part of the red route at Dalby last night. The fast group had a couple of punctures, which split the group until we regrouped. Oddest thing thought was the lady we met at green gate. She had a mountain bike and a barking dog - but no lights of any kind. She was only wearing shorts and a vest too, and it wasn't warm. As she couldn't see, she was completely lost and quite worried. Me and Rich escorted her back to her car. We had to shortcut our ride later and never did catch up with the rest fast group, but it's good karma, isn't it? Smile

How cool is that?? It was starting to sound like a spooky north york moors folk tale…She could have been luring you into a trap! What happened to the dog??? Surprised

Ok, ok you fast group lot want to have behaved better us intermediates! We rescued TWO people. Ok they were together, and had lights on their bikes, but they were lost, and Carl took them back to their car.No dog tho, so guess that tops us. Wink We went exploring some old trails, well that's what i told them they were. The tracks were rather overgrown in places, so much so that some would say there was no track at all! We even rode ' The indecisive trail ' which was pretty vague even in it's hey day, i was pretty proud of myself finding my way through it straight to the exit, and although we were definately at the exit, it wasn't really there anymore. I was very impressed by Mike and Toby, two fairly new guys who simply rode through the undergrowth, which reached about 4 foot high, clearly going to fit in well! We were defeated by a downhill track tho, Dave (Simpson) leading at this point, said 'it's not there Debs, there are trees in the way and the gaps inbetween are filled by 6 foot high bracken' I had a quick look and voluntered Dave to try it anyway,so off he went but the bracken was just to thick, still i will try again in daylight! Most of us were still on summer tyres, which made it all even more interesting. Carl said it looked like my 29er was trying to throw me off! Trail rakers here i come! We had to cut our ride short as Mike broke his bike twice, still it meant Jackie, Dave and Lorraine got to try their pushing a cyclist skills, Adam offered to help but they were all enjoying it too much! We used to have to do that on a regular basis, i think Hackness Mike holds the record for the longest push, me 10 miles, on the evening of the fog, whistle and lost frog ride! I will bore you about that ride another time!
