Well a pretty big group for a Tuesday. The anti social group were led by Nigel, little hopper was there, i think it was him at any rate, hard to tell through the tan! he had decided to wait for Hackness Mike this week, back on his Lapierre. Had they really been on holiday together? Mike sure does not catch the sun as much! Mind you he could just be looking a bit pale after loosing his bet with little hopper, turns out little hopper junior age 8, CAN ride up Wrench Green! Russ the Pliers was with them, i felt he was rather over dressed in a long sleeved top but the sun dropped quickly and tho it was never cold i think he had it just about right! sorry not sure if there was anyone else.
I led the social group and after a trying day when i was pretty miserable to all my customers i decided to keep in the mood and make it a really hard route to ride. We headed off towards hey brow but turned off at the bottom, Ravenscar Chris had been all ready for the hill and was disappointed not to be doing it. He soon learnt. We climbed up to the top all right, but did it off road not on tarmac! He got a nice view at the top tho! We had been joined by a new rider, Martin, he doesn't own a bike at the mo but as he lives next door to Lorraine he had no choice but to get out and ride. He turned up on Andy Vaughn's Scott and as he beat us up most of the hills i guess Lorraine knew what she was talking about getting him cycling. I let the group have a little breather at this point and we did the outside tracks before making our way towards Silpho and the downhill to Whisperdales. We had been joined by Damien a regular rider from a few years back. He earn't the nick name Flat Jack, but as i always say you have to come out and ride to find out why. i think he really wanted Nathan's nick name of the gate man as he kindly opened and shut most of them, thanks. Richard, having passed his driving teat is now becoming a regular rider and chased martin on most of the hills. His mum has a bril nick name but he wants nothing to do with it, so for the mo, he will be know as Richard, son of………….. until he earns his own! We rode up Whisperdales, where a very nice man was filling in all the pot holes, tho maybe not especially for us. I had been offering Too Tall Tom's solo Mayhem place to any takers,( Downhill in Lakes,1, Tom, 0) and Lucy had been mulling over this all night. Solo, check, 24 hours, check, can i get a lift, check, this friday, check. Humm, she kept saying, i have to be at work, but…. i think she is mad enough to do it but, she has to be at work….! but…! watch this space! Matt the camera keeps getting faster and faster, what are you feeding him Jackie? We finished the ride with a down hill towards Burniston, then a quick road descent after a little hight gain to the pub. 2 hours 30 mins, good work out, good company, thanks all! Not sure if the anti social will have worked as hard as us!
