Wow another wonderful evening. Too Tall Tom and i rode out to meet the group at the now sadly closed Everley, so no after ride drink! We headed up the track opposite the pub, this was so so dry. Little hopper reached most of the gates first but it seemed to be Russ the pliers or Nigel who held them open.I was concentrating so hard Giles had to tell me to look at the view, which was truly wonderful!  We made our way via the outside tracks to the downhill which took us the the bottom of whisperdales, then we turned up the valley and climbed to reisty bank car park. little Hopper suggested we take the downhill from the broxa outside track , which was very very bumpy the last time i did it. Hackness Mike and Little Hopper reassured me it was fine, but it wasn't! I have to say i loved it all the same, we must do it more often. At the bottom we split, desperate dan, his son matt, the Hackness duo and Russ the pliers heading back via the river track from the bottom of the blue man but just to keep Giles smiling we went up Reisty Bank then picked up the outside tracks until we took the down hill all the way to the outskirts of Burniston. We don't do this track enough either. Great evening, great company, just missing brother Paul and plumber dave!

Great night to be out tonight. Another good ride. After Debbie, Tom and Giles left us, the rest of us headed over toward Low North Camp. We paused to chat for a bit. And a bit more. Then I remembered that I hadn't told the others that those three had gone the other way… Embarassed

Passing through Low North Camp, we picked up the end of Blue Man, I think - which I didn't recognise in the daylight. Russ the pliers did some trailclearing when we found a tree across the track. My son Matt tumbled over the bars when he was following Nigel the skills and cut his leg a bit on a pedal. But he was okay.

Hackness Mike went to follow Steve Hopper across that little beck on the way to Langdale End… and ended up in it. Ooops! Maybe it was the rebound on those forks, which seemed to have one setting: fast. 'What is it with you and mechanicals, Mike?' Nigel asked, or words to that effect. Possible new nickname: Mike and the Mechanicals? I'll let you guess whose heart rate monitor started reading zero shortly after that…

My son Matt enjoyed it - his first evening ride - and certainly coped with the downhills better than I did. That is, he didn't ride down timidly, hanging so far off the back of the saddle his chest was resting on it. Embarassed

Here's my Garmin plot of the route.

Ah, i would blame that Deb woman! Am loving Mike's new nick name. Tho if he is to be re-named i have to say maybe we should have a vote on it. Red Squirrel  is one he got given in Scotland, tho i guess the rule ' what happens in scotland stays in Scotland' should apply and thinking about it, the nick name i got there is def not for public consumption!
