Well i have to admit i was pretty doubtful we would get out. Since Sunday evening we have had little snow in Scarborough town centre but go half a mile from the town centre and any minor road and conditions are pretty nasty. Black ice, deep snow, ruts, ice, and very very cold. Still it's Tuesday so we ride! enough said! the Tedman,  hackness mike, Russ, Richard. myself and Nick who rides malton way dashed over to join us as i may have said Scarborough was snow free! It was snowing pretty heavily when we set off and we also had to contend with a strong wind blowing it in our faces, joy! The conditions on the railway line were not too bad,tho some pretty rough rutted icy sections and black ice hidden by a layer of freshly fallen snow  kept us on our toes. Nick and Hackness Mike set a pretty decent pace and we made it a mile or so past Heyburn Wyke before we headed back. A strong head wind make the ride out hard work and it changed direction when we did too! Tho it did finally take pity on us and helped blow us home!

Richard commented that riding in snow at least meant we wouldn't have to clean the bikes, big mistake. It just means the muck from the rail way line sticks better to your bike!

Finally, i realized the reason i night ride, is yes to keep fit, good company, but mainly it is such good fun!

I have to agree and say it was worth all fingernail biting on the drive over from Pickering on those black ice roads !! It was fun (if you are a sado masochist) and you know what makes me smirk is when you get the `look`from those others who drive by, staring in amazement at the nutters on bikes in blizzard conditions !! - that alone is the incentive to get out and ride in all weathers. Thanks for hanging on for me for those extra few minutes I needed to get to you, was worth it. Heres to more snow, is what I say.Smile

PS. Those winter boots you sold me are the dogs - toasty warm and dry feet an added bonus!
