Question ~ how much easier would it be doing 25k on a rode bike rather than a mountain bike for a sprint triathlon?

If it's a hardtail MTB and you put some slicks on it then a road bike would be about 10% faster.

I did a 40k hilly cycle ride within a triathon and trained on both and that was what 'I' found anyway (70min road-77min MTB)

Full Susser would be slower still.

Road bike with tribars on faster still etc.etc.

If it's a hilly course & a windy day you might run out of top-end gears on MTB.

A lot easier ….effort required would be less on a road bike and that saved energy could be used to ensure you go faster than you would be able to on a mountain bike.
