Well a bit of a re run from last year albeit slightly earlier…….so I hear Dalby is closed so what is everyone up to have you managed to find the best off road ride for this weather? or are you confined to indoor training? Has Debbie sold out of spiked ice tyres again??
Remember now is the time to book your cycling trip to Majorca with the club might just cheer you up…you only have to wait to April for it!

I think I'll be riding up the old railway line a lot if it stays like this. Is Dalby officially closed then? I know it's very snowy up there. A friend of mine went up there yesterday to have a look around and got his car stuck for half an hour.
Met Office says 'the cold conditions are likely to continue'.
Time to invest in some spiked tyres, I reckon. Although I did see a picture somewhere online of a guy who had put about 30 cable ties all around each tyre, oriented so that the 'clasp' bit was on the shoulder of the tyre on alternate sides. Only works if you have disc brakes or a fixed wheel, of course!

well after cancelling the leaders day I loaded the car up to go MTBing but then the Wolds were hit by big snow showers I then watched a hgv and car going sideways down our road so decided to watch the dancing on ice from the garage on the turbo.
1 hour with the USA Junior cycling team in Belgium ….roads were clear on my Tacx!

Yep, shame about the leaders day being cancelled Mark - was looking forward to that and was already (apprehensively) to set off !
Dalby was (is still closed I believe) but was due to close anyway this weekend for the RAC rally up there, so all routes, trails would have been shut in any case regardless of the snow.
As it was with the leaders day being cancelled I snuck up into dalby the back way on the bike from thornton dale as no access by car - and it was like a winter wonderland. Couldnt ride the majority of the red as snow just tooo deep, had to get off and carry at one point (bike weighed an extra couple of kilos with `extra` accessories of frozen compacted snow
Topped off with a road ride from Allerston back to the car because I took the wrong turn, a brill ride and good for the fitness and bike skills on that ice !!

We have already sold out of snow/ice tyres ! We are trying to get more stock asap. I have to say i am finding it hard to get motivated this year to ride in the cold snow and ice. i have no excuses, i have all the kit, people to ride with but…. I HATE ICE! Think it will be railway line for me tomorrow eve, anyone interested? Same wed day. On Sunday i aim to get out and do a proper ride. Snow snow go away!
