Cheers, Tommo. I use black gaffer tape, though. Cheap as chips. And black goes with everything, doesn't it?

Well it goes with a black frame Confused

I wouldn't put any of that stuff on my bikes though, way to much weight. SmileSmileSmileSmileCool

Electric tape is to light weight and doesn't do a very good job, lets face it this is the best £2 you'll ever spend. Laugh

I sold about 400 lots of it now.  Come On you Zipps - coming soonSmileSmileSmile

Tommo goes fast enough without us contributing to his Zipp wheel fund!Wink

Helicopter tape is good, but plain old electric tape (that's what I meant - not gaffer tape) seems to work okay. I've had a strip on my mountain bike for over two years to stop the brake cable rubbing on the frame. I've also got a chainstay protector made out of old innertube, and a computer mount made from a reflector bracket, a wine cork and some more electric tape. Next I'm gonna make some disc wheel covers out of sticky backed plastic and a Weetabix box.

Carl - good to see you on the forum, feller. You've been road racing, I've been time trialling. Sure we'll catch up some time. Smile

how thick is the tape? you had any wear on chainstay with the chain hitting it every now and then? you need a hairdryer to apply? or remove? how often do you change it?

cheers.

Mtn Chainstay's I would use those neoprene style protectors - that's what I've got on mine, due to the noise more than anything.

Road bikes it's OK for that I've got some on both Cannondale & Ribble winter/work bike.

I've done 4000 mile's this year on my Ribble and the tape still looks as good as new, on the C/Dale it's been on longer but not as many miles. You don't need a hairdryer, but it makes it easier if you are going round lots of tube joints/welds etc. Make sure the bike is mega clean with no oily residue.

It just pulls off when you want and leaves no sicky glue behind but it won't peel off when you don't want it to either. ( No jet washing at mm's away though)

Thickness is thick enough - tested at 100mph with a grit blaster. 1000's of eBayers can't be wrong all +ve's and no -ve's.

This is the update link if you want some. Cool

I got some off Tommo awhile back now and you cannot see it, Gary bought some from a bike shop in hull and quite expensive and you can tell its on.  Its great for where the cables go.  You could all see him at the Interclub event on Sunday.

I'm glad you like the tape - the only thing wrong with it is that it lasts way too long for repeat buyers. Cry

Tom bought 2mts worth of tape today (or at least someone called Mary Stockhill from Scarborough has)

Knows a good deal when he's see's it. Less than 24hrs to think about.Cool

That's OK, it made a change from going over Silpho Top. Smile

I needed to go flat tonight anyway, as I have a fairly big hill to go up tomorrow morning. Embarassed

I came from the Bronx, my mum & dad still live there, so I knew just where it was. Wink

Mint laugh down there, jumping off at the last minute before you crashed into a watery end.

We used compost bags and filled them up with old rags or straw/grass to protect ya a**e.

I remember it was OK on the day - but the day after you couldn't sit down. SmileSmileSmile

I took my kids there the first time it snowed loads - awesome.

I showed them our BMX track but it was all overgrown and unused. CryCry
