Those of you who have visited the Velodrome on the 2 trips that we have organised will have met 15 year old Lewis Barry.  His Dad, Mark, was our coach for both sessions and Lewis came along to help out on each occasion.  Lewis tragically died in his sleep just over a month ago. 

Some of his friends are organising a ride to pay tribute to Lewis and it would be fantastic if we could have some Richardson's members amongst the riders on the day.  I have lifted the details from the facebook page dedicated to the ride:

“India Penrice, Jake Scott, Simon Winston and Jordan Hargreaves would like to pay tribute by putting on this ride to lewis Barry who tragicly past away on the 29th of June 2010, and to celebrate his wonderful life, we would like to put on a memorial bike ride from the manchester velodrome to his hometown which is garforth in Leeds, the ride is 50.2 miles long and the ride will be steady as we are not there to race, but to show ou…r appreciation and love to a great person, Invite everybody you know to come along, and if you get this invitation and you're not a cyclist, still, come along and cheer everybody from either the start or finish of the ride.

The ride is planned for Sunday the 12th of September, starting at 10:00 from the Manchester Velodrome finshing at 15:00 in Garforth.  If anyone is interested in riding please let me know.  I am hoping to ride, health permitting, and I will be pootling round.  If there are a few of us able to attend we can organise the logistics of bikes and cars between us.
