I know the Malton Wheelers reliability ride is off due to snow. What about the Sunday ride from Crossgates? Low level routes seem to be okay.

I should have just texted Andy really. There were a few riders out, although I missed them as I was in bed (not realising there was a ride) and went out later. I bumped into Andy doing the Falcon run - we were going in opposite directions. Great cycling weather for a change. Pity about the motorists on the Whitby road who seemed to want to take me out with their wing mirrors. I almost emptied my air horn, I was cut up that often. I even got overtaken - with inches to spare - on blind corners and before hidden dips. Idiots.
It was nice in the lanes, although Reasty bank was a bit of a struggle on a 68-inch fixed (48×19). But I'll keep plugging away on one gear for a bit. It was spurred by the talk we had on improving your TTing speed some time ago. The bloke giving the talk made one very simple point – that to go faster you need to do one of two things:
1. Pedal with a faster cadence.
2. Pedal a higher gear.
There are things you can do to make these things easier, but if you don't ultimately do one of them (or a combination of both) you won't go any faster. Hence the practice in spinning (i.e. downhill on fixed) and higher gear stuff (uphill on fixed). We'll see if it works.
