Our first session went well on Sunday and we had expected around four riders to turn up and thats exactly what we got.  Three non members and Matt Schofield.  The session focused on braking, stationery mounts and dismounts plus some more advanced moving mounts and dismounts.     

The venue is superb and probably the best we can get traffic free in Scarborough.  We are using the top car park at the College which is an oval shape and a natural circuit so great for warming up and some races.   The session last week was looking at some basic skills and I took part in the session and it was great to get chance to go back to basics……I got told off for skidding as well. 

Please spread the word about the youth academy for 12-15 year olds.  However anyone just outside these ages will be considered (contact myself).   All the riders need are a bike (any will do) and a helmet.   The more riders we can get the better. Its only £1.50 per session.  Meet at 2.30pm sharp and session finished at 3.45pm.

There will be some trips out and the first willl be a MTB skills course at Dalby on 13th December and this will be for the young riders and their families.   Meeting at 9.45am at Low Dalby Visitors Car Park

Also I am on my own this coming Sunday so if anyone wants to lend a hand let me know.    Its only a couple of hours out of your day and its a great feeling to give something back and promote cycling.

A fantastic turn out for the Youth Academy today with club coach Toby and Graham who ran a very dynamic and enjoyable sprint skills session. 

The Academy now has 10 youth riders but we are aiming to reach 20 by the end of the summer so if you know any 12-16 year olds that love any type of cycling from road to MTB then let them know about the Academy.

We meet every sunday 2.30pm and deliver coach and race sessions until 3.45pm.   Last week was road race skills and learning about the different type of flags in road racing and signals for group riding. 

The Academy is run by fully insured, CRB checked British Cycling Coaches.   Our club is a registered Go Ride Club with British Cycling.
