It's the fifth event in the King of Speed series tonight: a 10-mile time trial starting at Musham Bank roundabout. Sign on there before 7pm. Cost is £2.
For route details etc. see the 10-mileTTinfo pdf at the bottom of this page.

Five riders tonight. Not including you, Mike.
Richardsons CC does have a lot of members but we have fewer time triallists than Paragon does. And yet… I haven't seen a post from you wondering why there were just three riders (fewer than any of the King of Speed events so far) at the Paragon TT last Tuesday. I'm not having a dig there, by the way. I'm just saying: it happens. Sometimes people are busy - with work, family commitments, or other races. Sometimes it's the weather. And sometimes there isn't a big demand for a given race. You can't make people race if they don't want to.
With any of these things, it's a case of trying things and seeing what there's demand for. If it turns out we get lots more riders at the Summer Series at Burton Fleming in July and August, we can look at expanding that instead. If there's a demand for 10-mile time trials but not 25, then we'll just run 10s. It's a case of 'suck it and see'.
Don't forget that the club is about more than just racing in any case. Lots of RCC members prefer social rides. We will likely get 50 or more riders at our family fun day next month.

Hi Dan sorry I could not ride and yes work commitments!
You are quite right membership is at similar levels to last year although yet to confirm (next committee meet). The club is not a time trial club and is a mixture of mountain bike and road. Our focus has always been to develop youth, new riders and cater where possible for both road and MTB.
We will review the king of Speed series at our next meeting and see if it is a good set of races and attracting members.
We only started putting on time trials last year when Mike suggested it. Thats where the summer series came from. This is due to start next month and I suspect that this event maybe more popular as it is a handicap event so slower riders have a chance to win.

I never did the event due to Ken/Len tonight and I am no longer a member of the club, but I did not want to offend anyone when asking how many, last year it was a good turn at Burton Fleming and I thought it would be a good turn out for these events as closer to Scarborough, its a shame as Dan has gone to alot of work organising these events. Also on the low turn out at the Paragon event is was pouring down with rain, David had to call off the 25 due to the weather. So sorry if I offened anyone.
Dan are you riding tomorrow in Malton.

That's okay, Mike. I'm not offended. I'm just spelling out how the club (or at least the committee) works. We'll try something. If it doesn't work, we'll try something else. If we've got an idea, someone to make it happen, and enough volunteers to ensure it does happen, then we'll give it a go.
I was taking a punt on the King of Speed series, and still am. It's not costing anything beyond my time and the time of the volunteers helping out with timekeeping. If the numbers aren't there by the end of it? <shrug> We'll do something else next year.
There's clearly *some* demand within and outside of RCC for time trials we put on. But if the numbers tell us that we're better focused on, say 5 and 10 mile events that suit relative beginners, or that certain days are better than others, or that certain courses are more attractive than others, that's useful information that we can take account of when we plan what we'll do for the next season.
I should be at Malton on Wednesday, by the way. I didn't race tonight 'cos I was racing Sunday and Monday, and possibly Wednesday. My legs still hurt from Sunday.
