It’s the second of our 10-mile time trials on Thursday 21st April. Meet before 6.15pm at the industrial estate on the A169, just north of the Flamingoland turn-off. First rider off at 6.30pm. You don’t need to enter in advance: just turn up. It’s £2 per rider to take part, and if you’re under 18 (minimum age is 12) you must bring a signed parental consent form (see below) and wear a helmet.
You don’t need to have ridden the previous event, although if you have you’ll have a target to aim for - and this course is a bit faster too. You can take part on any roadworthy bike except a recumbent or one with electrical assistance. So yes, you can have a blast round on your mountain bike. It’d be easier with slicks, of course, but it’s up to you.
The route is a straight ‘out and back’. You can’t go wrong. But there’s more information on the PDF below if you want it.
You must observe normal traffic laws, although there will large ‘cycle event’ signs to tell motorists that we’re there (e.g. near the start and at the roundabout entry roads).
Look forward to seeing you there. If you’ve got any questions, post them on the forum or ask me (Dan).
Also: I’m still looking for a few timekeepers for these events. I need two helpers for the Snainton event on 2nd June. I’d like a third volunteer for Snainton on both 2nd June and 5th May. That way we can put a marshall on that right-hand turn. If you can spare an hour or so to hold and read a stopwatch, or just wear a bright yellow bib and stick your arm out, let me or Debbie know.

I'm going to put 'cycle event' signs at all entries to the roundabout, so won't need a marshall there. However, if we get 34 competitors again I will need a pusher off. So if you're available, that would be great, Matthew. Also, you could show me exactly where the start and finish are. I know the start within a yard or two, but am not sure what shows where the finish is. A drain, maybe?
cheers

Will push off for the last few then push off home myself!

Thanks, Matthew. That's great.
You and Tommo both riding the V718 Good Friday event? You'd want to be fresh for that. I didn't enter that one cos of our event the day before and the first of the Nutcracker MTB races on the following Sunday. Can't race everything.
A CTC colleague, an American called John Storms, is riding that. I think he rides for Kingston Wheelers. His current PB is 21:03, so I suppose he's chasing a short 20 on there.

Dan,
My dad says you may want to check times. Tim Watts set off at 4, and overtook my dad who set off at 3 - yet his time was less than a minute faster than my dad - hope that makes sense.

Thanks, Callum. I'm just sorting through the times now. I'll double check my maths! The numbers on the watches are right, and the numbers on the backs of the riders are right. But I was doing subtraction with an oxygen starved brain.
Results should be up in about half an hour or so.

Thanks for the comment by one rider saying I was the best holder upper he's ever had!
Nicely run event.
When we have our (Malton Wheelers) event, I will try to remember to ask Joan to mark the road with yellow paint for the start/finish.
