It was a hard night tonight. Strong wind down Bartindale hill made it difficult to get onto the ride. Everyone went back a bit, some more than others. I lost a whole minute - half of it up Bartindale, because a hill plus a headwind is a special kind of torture on fixed.  I should have brought the mountain bike. 

I also forgot my heart rate monitor and I tend to revert to cycle-touring-type if it's not there bleeping at me. Hello birds, hello sky, oh, there goes my minute man.

There were still some good rides, though, notably James Gullen's short 23 - more than a minute clear of the rest of the field. It was great to see more than 20 riders again.
