Yes it’s no mistake a half mile race. How hard can that be ??  A few minutes of effort and that’s it. Smile

No special TT bike needed no silly helmets etc. Wink

It’s the east coast’s top hill climb event ‘The Hackness Windings’ - this time trial has been run on the hill since 1954.

Can you crack the climb?? If so how fast??

It’s an ‘individual’ time trial – just you and the hill, see what you can do – practice & beat it next year.

Opposite Hackness School Sunday 4th OCT 10:30-10:45am - TT starts at 11am

The climb starts  48yds from the main road - up to the car park entrance 0.5 mile long/267ft ascent - 1 : 9.88 gradient.

Sunday club runners go for a warm up and come along – watch if you don’t fancy it (ready for next year)

I can't haul on the handlebars at the moment, Tommo. And I've got a cold. Otherwise I'd be all over it, obviously. Wink

Shame a single speed fixed bike always worth some applause. On that hill it's a good way to go, I'd do it if I had such a bike. Wink

On the other hand, there was a good turnout on RCC's Sunday club run - including at least one Paragon rider. Plenty of us do enjoy doing Paragon events, but it's not like we're obliged to. Similarly, we welcome Paragon riders at our events but they're not beholden to ride any events we put on.

Don't forget that next Sunday coincides with RCC's off-road skills training day. I'm not on that but I do have to be somewhere at 1pm, showered and smart. I was thinking of doing the Interclub and asking for an early start - I might yet. Can you confirm we can ride the interclub in our RCC colours, Mike, or is it just for members of Paragon, Bridlington and Malton Wheelers?

CTT rules say an interclub can only be 4 clubs. (Chris looked it up)

That will be:-

SPCC-Brid CC-Malton Whs-Cottingham Crs

so no RCC, sorry dudes.

Not sure if thats good enough????? I'll ask at the meeting. Makes no difference to me like but rules are rules and if you break them you can get banned by the CTT. eg. riding opens in second claim colours/name. naughty, naughty

Asked at the meeting and anyone can come along, it's not an 'interclub' that's just the nickname we give to that end of season race.

So all you 80 RCC members can come and ave a go, the more the merrier. LaughLaughLaugh

You tried it in the summer, see if you are faster now with a bit more training???? Wink

Same course Burton Fleming 10 miler - same village hall HQ - same laid back freindly atmosphere - more riders though to chat to about all things cycling. Loads of age groups - loads of prizes - loads of tea & biscuits.

Paragon will be there - Malton Wheelers will be there - Brid CC will be there - Cottingham will be there.

Don't let the newest/biggest club be a big disappointment.

Tommo we might be struggling to get a large number of riders to enter.  With four days notice that we can now ride and are invited is a bit too short notice!  I cannot make it and have other arrangements.

So what is the situtation for next year…which clubs are invited to the interclub as you are quite right CTT rules do say 4 clubs?

It would be worthwhile both clubs liasing a bit better over calendars etc…  Can I suggest that if you know your provisional calendar for next year that you send it to Hazel hazel258@hotmail.co.uk  we are planning events this month so at least we try and avoid clashing as best as possible.

I said I would find out the answer at the SPCC meeting over the interclub, as I didn’t know myself hence all the ?????? in above posts.

It turns out that the confusion was accidentally coursed by Chris at Malton answering Mark Devine’s  question as to whether he need to fill out a CTT ‘Open’ style form for the interclub or could he just turn up. Chris pointed out the 4 clubs rule due to levies etc I didn’t know anything about that so said I find out for you.

Anyway it isn’t an interclub event, it’s just known as that by everyone. It is in fact a SPCC 10m club event, so therefore anyone can turn up and ride as with all club events so long as their club is in the CTT. The timekeeping & prizes are the only thing that is shared out from year to year by the clubs that enter. So for future ‘interclub’ events all at RCC are welcome to come along as with this year if anyone can go. (free prize for everyone taking part - normally) This goes for all SPCC events, no one has ever been turned away from a SPCC club event, basically the more the merrier. Lots of different courses to try and different distances - something for everyone. Smile

As yet we are still finalizing our club events list for next year as well as yourselfs; these don’t have to be in until January. It’s fair to say though it will be similar to the list from the last few years. So you can take it Sunday mornings in April + September & Tuesday evening’s in-between. We also have 5 x 5m come-and-try-it TT's from Mid May-Mid July ever other week. I will be happy to e-mail & liaise with you or Hazel on the events - once I know you will. There will be just a few tweaks here and there as the list evolves from year to year. I said it in posts gone by maybe Thursdays would be good, SPCC Tuesdays, Malton Wednesdays & RCC Thursdays. Shift workers at one end of the week or bad weather etc. there will still be something on or worth going to. I will be happy to come along, if you'll have me, to some of your TT's if it fits in OK or if it's chucking it down Tues+Weds. Wink

Shame you can’t make it. You could 'ave had me, I'm doing the Holme Moss HC on Saturday so my legs will be totally destroyed.

Same gradient as Hackness just 3 times longer. SurprisedCryCryCryLaughLaugh

I won't be able to make the Burton Fleming race either. Busy at 1pm. While on paper there's just enough time to do the ride, get back, get changed etc. in the real world something would go wrong. Like me being slow out on the course. Confused Plus, I'm not 100% happy about racing just yet anyway. Another week or two, no problem.

Have a good ride, anyone that's doing it.

Cheers, Tommo. I've put all three races in my diary. Though my 23:10 might not make the cut for the V718 race.

I doubt there will be that many RCCers tomorrow. As well as me and several others being busy with non-cycling stuff it's our off-road skills day tomorrow, and yesterday we had a club 100 miler. We're not sat at home with our noses in the air. Wink

Good luck to anyone that does ride.

I've just finished sorting out my winter fixie (48×19) for grinding out some training miles over the next few months.

I've never done the winter V718, but you never know I'd say you might be OK, as it's cold there might not be a big or even full entry list.
