He won………………..I think there was about 15 riders, and he did a 16.22 and won the event by 20 seconds.
He wants to join Richardsons and is wanting to ride other events , he wants to do a 10 so will have to find him one.
I think the mountain bike idea has gone now he has won a medal.

Hi Mike
Great news about Lewis. I thought he would do well.
We discussed the possibility of some club time trials in Aug but we will need CTT to agree. I have contacted them about geting permission to run some. However there are plenty of other local 10s - Malton Wheelers or Paragon.

Mike, Paragon 10m on Tuesday (26th) night totally flat course much easier than the 5m course at Burniston but twice as long thats all. Lewis did well he's got talent, 10milers a good idea to get more enduo for 5m's. Tell to go slower at the start. Needs to up it towards 20mph average by the end of the summer. no pain. No gain

Should be pleased, I didn't think anyone would go that fast on a difficult course like that.
Paragon web-site has all our courses on it some with maps. Here's the link:-
http://scarborough-paragon.org…..urses.html
This 10m is on the Snainton / Yeddingham course. Meet at Gravel-pits (same side of the road) half way between Coachman Pub and Golf driving range at 6:45pm. G Mann and M Thompson are usually there as well so he won't be the only kid, also some of the others asked me about more races - H Brown+D Elloitt.
You can't drive all that way without doing it as well. You know you want to, show your lad who's boss, or maybe not???

Matthew enjoyed himself last night, as did my younger son William. Matthew said he wanted to finish in the top 3 and William wanted to beat his friend Will, which they both did. They'll both probably be at the next 5-mile race. Matthew's already thinking of using his MTB clipless pedals, having no mudguards on the bike (I leant him it and didn't have time to remove them), and wearing less flappy clothing!

We where stood up from the the finish cheering them on and i was surprised with the speed some of them were going, it was all very exciting waiting for the riders to finish and hearing their times.
Well done to all the lads who rode.

I like it, sounds like they are getting into it. New tactics etc. etc . Funny helmets next.
I said to a few of the others the same about the flappy clothes and how it slows you down loads, so others are getting into it as well.
It's all good fun and great to see the kids having a good time, very rewarding for all of us at Paragon, and it's worth the effort of putting on this race series to see so many enjoying it. Loads more races at different distances 0.5m - 50m and different terrain as well.
Maybe you should have a go then - Kim
Two other women will be there at the next event - for there first try.

Last night's 5-mile time trial saw personal best times tumbling and some close results. Lewis and Matthew tied for third place on time, with 15-48. If they'd both been five second quicker, they'd have tied for 2nd place.
It was interesting to see lots of borrowed road bikes being used as riders began to up the ante. I offered Matthew my aero helmet for the last ride but he said: 'I'd rather keep my dignity.'
