errrm, first of all wow, didn't expect that Surprised but just wanted to say i've gone down the route of a new bike, as tommo suggested, but i'll be keeping the old isla for my training (and i'll be riding my bike riding my bike, riding my bike Wink) thanks for all the tips and will try to take them all into account (after my head stops spinning), love the idea @kingofthehill but sadly i dont think the mother would be best pleased Wink

Here's to a great season and once again thanks to everyone,

And remember that just because a rider is fast, it doesn't mean they're right. Wink I could have a lucky gonk on my handlebars, and if I rode faster with it than without, you could argue that it made me faster. But you couldn't argue that lucky gonks made cycling faster full stop.

Last I checked, incidentally, I'd tested hundreds of bikes. Maybe thousands. Over a 20-year period.

And I never accuse someone of talking 'absolute rubbish' unless I had proof to back me up. (Anytime you want to supply that, I'm all ears. Wink) 'I'm faster' isn't proof. It shows that your methods are working for you. Times don't lie, but explanations can.

Still, I'm glad we could discuss this without flaming each other. Anyone fancy a bike ride? Laugh

Good entry-level road bike, the Specialized Allez. Like many Specialized bikes, it's a bit shorter in the top tube than nominally same sized bikes from other manufacturers, but that's no bad thing if you're planning to put tri bars on it (because you'll be putting your elbows near where your hands would normally go). I'm sure you'll like it, Callum. Laugh
