Richardson’s Cycling Club is starting ‘Go-Ride’ coaching sessions at Seamer & Irton School on Saturday afternoons. Go-Ride is a fun and safe way to introduce young riders to the world of cycle sport and provides a platform to improve bike handling skills. It also links in nicely with our series of Go-Ride Races so if your children are attending the races and wish to improve their skills then this is the ideal environment to do that. Our coaches are qualified through British Cycling, have been fully CRB checked and are trained in basic first aid.
The hour and a quarter sessions will include a combination of demonstrations, coaching and fun races, and are open to riders aged 5+. They will take place on the school playground and playing field and are open to complete beginners and also those with some previous experience. Riders will need to have a road worthy bike, helmet and gloves, and suitable clothing for the weather at the time of the session.
Seamer school is located on Bell Close, which is off Denison Avenue in Seamer. The staff car park will be open for riders’ parents parking and access to the playground is through the wooden gate at the left hand side of the car park and through the courtyard to the back of the school grounds.
We would ask that your child becomes a member of RCC if they intend to attend the sessions regularly as this then covers them with our insurance. However they can come to 3 sessions without commitment to join to see if they like it! The current cost of junior membership is normally £5. However, all riders attending coaching session will only pay £1 for club membership and can get free British Cycling membership for a year.
More information is available on application. We also require a parental consent form filling in for every rider. These will be available at the sessions but can also be downloaded from the club website which will save time at the session. The parental consent form is on the back of the membership application form.
Please note that our Youth Academy still meets at Warren Viewpoint in Wykeham Woods most Sunday afternoons, 2:30 to 3:45. These rides are for older or more advanced riders and are the next level up from the new Go-Ride sessions. The terrain is more technical and the rides can be physically demanding for very young riders. For updates on both of these sessions keep watching the RCC website or look at our facebook page ’ RCC Youth Academy’, or follow us on Twitter, ‘@RCCkids’. Alternatively contact Toby Boyes for more information: firstname.lastname@example.org, or phone 07710 447761.
The first session at Seamer & Irton school is on Saturday the 13th of April, 2:30 to 3:45. Sessions will run during school term time only at the moment although we may run some sessions during the longer school holidays if there is enough demand. Cost is £2 per rider per session.
Hope to see some of you there.
